estate planning
We advise clients on the benefits of well drafted powers of attorney documents, last wills and testaments and trusts. These documents enable persons to meet their own planning goals and often provide peace of mind to family members. We review the size and character of family assets, plans for care during the last season of life and how the family assets will be used to provide security through death and passage to the next generation.
medicaid asset protection
We have expert knowledge of nursing home Medicare and Medicaid eligibility rules and how best to advise families to prepare for these expenses. We will discuss various strategies for asset preservation from a long-term planning view to crisis planning in immediate placement situations.
guardianships
We represent parties in the legal guardianship process. Developmentally disabled persons, clients who lack powers of attorney, or elderly clients whose families are in conflict over care of the parent often end up before the guardianship court. We also serve as an officer of the court as Guardian ad Litem in representing the person being sued for incapacity.
